Curbside Compost Collection: New Bin, Same Old Rules

Austin Resource Recovery is expanding its Curbside Compost Collection Program, and you may receive a new, dedicated compost bin as soon as September 23rd, 2019. Yet another bin?! Yes, and it is for a laudable goal. The Curbside Compost Collection program is part of the City of Austin’s Zero Waste goal to divert 90 percent of materials from landfills by 2040. However, with a new bin, comes the reminder that garbage and recycling containers need to remain out of sight.

Per paragraph 6.09 of the Great Hills Reserve Deed Restrictions: “…, unless otherwise expressly permitted by the Committee, garbage containers shall be situated and enclosed or screened so as not to be visible from any Street, or landscaped easement area.” So, congratulations on your new bin, and please plan on where you are going to store it.
